A futures prop firm, answered

The idea

What is a futures prop firm?

A futures prop firm sells you a simulated futures account and pays you a share of the profit you make on it. At WhitePips you trade CME Group futures (the E-mini and Micro S&P and Nasdaq, crude oil, gold, currencies and grains) on Volumetrica with dxFeed data, and keep 90% of the profit on every plan.

The route

How does a funded futures account work?

  1. Pick One Step or Instant and a size from $25,000 to $150,000, and pay once.
  2. One Step: reach the profit target ($1,200 on $25K) inside the end-of-day trailing maximum loss, with no daily loss limit, no consistency rule and no time limit. Instant is funded the day you buy.
  3. Request payouts on demand at a 90/10 split, by bank transfer or crypto, with a receipt for every request.

A standardised contract

What are futures?

A standard contract on an exchange

A futures contract is a standardised agreement to buy or sell a fixed quantity at a future date. Every E-mini S&P contract is identical, so they trade on one central exchange order book. Traders rarely hold to expiry: buy, the price moves, sell.

One order book everyone sees

Exchange-traded futures have one book with published volume and depth, so everyone reads the same tape. That is why order flow and volume profile work on futures, and why this line runs on Volumetrica.

Sized in contracts and ticks

A contract moves in ticks of a fixed dollar value set by the exchange, and size is a number of contracts. Position caps are written as a count of minis and micros; a micro is one tenth of a mini.

Simulated accounts, real payouts

As on the CFD line, every WhitePips futures account is simulated on a demo environment against live exchange data. The trading is real trading and the payouts are real money; no capital is placed at market risk.

One order book, in ticks

Every contract trades in one book with published volume and depth, in fixed price increments.

BidsAsksLast trade · one tick = 0.25

Tick

The smallest price increment a contract can move, and the unit all futures risk is counted in. Each tick has a fixed dollar value — on the E-mini S&P a tick is 0.25 index points and is worth $12.50.

Point

A whole unit of the underlying price. On the E-mini S&P a point is four ticks and worth $50; on the Micro it is worth $5.

Mini and micro

Two sizes of the same contract. A micro is exactly one tenth of a mini, so ten micros carry the same exposure as one mini. This is why every position cap on the board states both — 4 Mini | 40 Micro is one limit written twice, not two limits.

Contract month

Futures expire. Each contract has a delivery month and a code — ESZ5 is the December S&P — and liquidity concentrates in the front month. Positions are rolled or closed before expiry; nothing is ever delivered to you.

Margin

The exchange deposit that supports one contract, and on a simulated funded account the reason the position cap exists rather than a leverage ratio. Futures size is counted in contracts, so the plan caps contracts.

Session

Futures trade close to twenty-three hours a day, Sunday evening through Friday afternoon New York time, with a short daily maintenance break. The end of day used to measure trailing drawdown is the close of that session, not midnight local.

Order flow

Reading the sequence of executed trades and resting orders in the book, rather than reading a chart of past prices. It depends on the exchange's published tape and depth, which is what the futures platform is built around.

Contract caps

Two sizes of the same contract. A micro is exactly one tenth of a mini, so ten micros carry the same exposure as one mini. This is why every position cap on the board states both — 4 Mini | 40 Micro is one limit written twice, not two limits.

Instant2 Mini | 20 Micro4 Mini | 40 Micro6 Mini | 60 Micro8 Mini | 80 Micro

The most contracts that may be open at the same moment, stated in minis and in the equivalent micros. Ten micros equal one mini, so the two figures are one limit expressed twice. It applies to simultaneous exposure, not to how many trades you may take.

One plan at one size

In numbers

Take a $50K One Step evaluation. Four published figures decide the account: a profit target of $3,000, a Maximum Loss Limit of $2,000 on an EOD Trailing basis, a Daily Loss Limit of $1,250, and a Maximum Position Size of 4 Mini | 40 Micro.

The position cap is the one that surprises people, because it is a cap on size rather than on risk. 4 Mini | 40 Micro means exactly that — you may hold four E-mini contracts at once, or forty Micros, or any mix that adds to the same exposure, since ten micros equal one mini. It applies to what is open at the same moment, so closing one contract frees room for another. Going over it once is a warning; a second time puts the account under review.

Put the exchange's own tick values against that cap and the risk becomes concrete. Forty Micro E-mini S&P contracts move $50 a tick between them, because one Micro tick is $1.25. Against a $2,000 Maximum Loss Limit, that is forty ticks of room at full size — which is the number that should decide whether you trade the cap or a fraction of it.

The Maximum Loss Limit is EOD Trailing: it is recalculated at the close of each session against that session's ending balance, and it never moves back down. Make money on Monday and Tuesday's floor is higher. It stops trailing once the floor reaches your starting balance, and from that point the floor is locked there. Reaching it ends the account.

The Daily Loss Limit is soft. Lose $1,250 in one session and trading stops for the rest of that day, but the account stays open and trades again at the next session. There is no consistency rule and no minimum number of days in the evaluation, so it can be passed in a single day, and news trading is allowed. Positions are never held overnight: anything open at 3:55 PM CT is closed.

Funded, the split is 90/10 and a 40% consistency rule applies. A payout needs 3 days of $125 or more per payout (+0.25% of the starting balance) and a balance above the $2,000 (balance stays above $52,000) Profit Buffer plus the Minimum Profit Goal, $500 above the profit buffer, before every payout (1% of the starting balance). Each payout is at least $500 before the split and at most $2,000 on the first payout, then $2,500, before the split. Payouts are on demand.

The split is 90% on both plans and payouts are on demand: there is no cycle to wait for, only conditions to meet. Every payout is at least $500 and at most the plan's Maximum Payout for the size, both before the split.

On One Step, a payout opens once the balance is above the Profit Buffer, which equals the Maximum Loss Limit, plus the Minimum Profit Goal of 1% of the starting balance, with three profitable days of +0.25% or more in the cycle and no single day over 40% of the profit.

On Instant, a payout opens at the Payout Milestone of $1,450 / $3,000 / $5,000 / $8,000, reached again before every payout, with five profitable days and no single day over 20% of the profit.

Payouts are requested from the dashboard and paid by bank transfer, in USDT, USDC, BTC or ETH or as store credit. Identity verification is done before this, when your account is issued.

Trade to the profit target

Reach the plan's profit target with the account still inside its drawdown and the evaluation is passed. There is no time limit, no consistency rule and no minimum number of days, so it can be passed in a single day. Fifteen days without trading deactivates the account.

Respect the position cap and the drawdown

Two things govern a futures evaluation. The position cap limits how many contracts may be open at the same time, in minis or the equivalent in micros; going over it once is a warning and a second time puts the account under review. The Maximum Loss Limit is end of day trailing: it follows your session-closing balance upward, never downward, and locks once the floor reaches your starting balance. Reaching it ends the account. The Daily Loss Limit is soft: reaching it stops trading for the rest of the day and the account stays open.

Get funded

The simulated funded account is issued at a 90% split, with no activation fee. The funded rules come in with it: a 40% consistency rule on One Step, three profitable days of +0.25% of the account before each payout, a Profit Buffer equal to the Maximum Loss Limit, and no trade opened or closed two minutes either side of high-impact news. Instant runs an intraday trailing drawdown, a 20% consistency rule and five profitable days.

Take your payout

Payouts are on demand: there is no cycle to wait for, only conditions to meet. On One Step a payout opens once the balance is above the Profit Buffer plus 1% of the account, with three profitable days of +0.25% in the cycle. On Instant it opens at the Payout Milestone ($1,450 / $3,000 / $5,000 / $8,000 on $25K to $150K), reached again before every payout, with five profitable days. Every payout is at least $500 and at most the plan's Maximum Payout for the size, both before the 90% split.

The futures line runs on Volumetrica. It is not a retail charting package with a futures symbol list bolted on — it is built around the exchange tape, with order flow, volume profile and the live tape as the primary views rather than as add-ons.

Market data arrives over a dxFeed connection. That matters more on futures than on any other line: order flow analysis is only as good as the feed underneath it, and a delayed or aggregated tape makes the entire method decorative.

This is why the two lines are on different platforms rather than one. MetaTrader 5 is the right terminal for CFDs because that is where a CFD trader's tooling already lives. It is the wrong terminal for order-flow futures, and pretending otherwise would be a worse answer than running two platforms.

Before you buy an evaluation

Futures questions

What does 4 Mini | 40 Micro actually mean?

It is one position limit written twice. A micro contract is exactly one tenth of a mini, so four minis and forty micros carry identical exposure. You may hold four minis, or forty micros, or any combination adding to the same size — and it is a cap on what is open at the same moment, not on how many trades you take.

How does an end of day trailing Max Loss work?

The floor is recalculated at each session close against that session's ending balance, and it only ever moves up. It does not follow intraday equity, so an unrealised spike during the day does not raise it. Once the floor reaches your starting balance it stops trailing permanently — from that point the floor is locked there.

Is there a time limit?

No. Every futures plan publishes its time limit as None. There is no expiry on any futures evaluation and no penalty for taking as long as you need.

What is the difference between a soft breach and a hard breach?

A hard breach ends the account immediately and finally: reaching the Maximum Loss Limit is one. The Daily Loss Limit is soft: reaching it stops trading for the rest of the day, and the account stays open. Going over the position cap is a warning the first time and puts the account under review the second.

What is the difference between One Step and Instant?

One Step is an evaluation: reach the profit target inside an end of day trailing Maximum Loss Limit and you are funded, for a lower one-time fee. Instant funds you the moment you buy, with an intraday trailing Max Loss, a 20% consistency rule and a Payout Milestone before every payout. Both pay 90%, on demand.

Can I hold futures positions overnight or over the weekend?

No. Anything still open at 3:55 PM CT (4:55 PM New York) is closed by the system, five minutes before the daily close, and on Friday before the weekend. It is not a breach. The session runs Sunday 5:00 PM CT to Friday 4:00 PM CT, with a break from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM CT each day.

How do futures payouts work?

Both plans pay 90% of the payable profit, on demand: request a payout whenever its conditions are met, with every position closed. The smallest payout is $500 before the split, and the largest is set per size. Every request gets an automatic receipt confirming it has been received, and it is paid by the method on file for your account. Payout conditions on each plan
