## Key takeaways

1. **What is a consistency rule?** Most consistency rules are a ratio.
2. **Which WhitePips plans have a consistency rule?** The figure for each plan is on its plan page, and the trading rules page explains every rule in plain words.
3. **How does the futures consistency rule work?** It is checked when you request a payout, it is measured on the net profit of the current payout cycle, and it starts again after each payout.
4. **How does it fit with the Instant Payout Milestone?** A $50K futures Instant account needs $3,000 of profit before every payout (the Payout Milestone), 5 profitable days of $125 or more, and the 20% rule.
5. **What is Profit Concentration on CFD Instant accounts?** On Instant Pro and Instant Go, which are funded from day one, the share of your profit that came from your single best closed trade may be at most 60%.

A consistency rule limits how much of your profit can come from a single day or a single trade, so that a payout rests on more than one outsized result. At WhitePips the day-based rule is on futures: no single trading day may make more than 40% of the payout cycle's net profit on the One Step funded account, or 20% on Instant. On CFDs, Instant Pro and Instant Go cap the share from your single best trade at 60%, and funded Prime accounts have a separate rule on how steadily you trade.

None of these rules ends an account. Going over one holds a payout, pauses payouts on that account, or on Prime changes the account's terms. This post shows how each is measured, with worked examples you can check.

## What is a consistency rule?

Most consistency rules are a ratio. Take the profit of your best single day, divide it by the total net profit counted for the payout, and compare the result with the published percentage. If the share is at or below it, the rule is met.

**Best day ÷ total net profit ≤ the percentage**

Turned round, the same rule tells you how much total profit a given best day needs behind it: **total needed = best day ÷ the percentage**. The trading rules give the standard example: under a 40% rule, if the best day made $2,000, total counted net profit must be at least $5,000.

Two things follow from the arithmetic. A bigger best day raises the bar for everything else. And a losing day lowers the total, which raises the best day's share, so the share can go over the limit on a day when you traded badly, not only on a day when you traded well.

## Which WhitePips plans have a consistency rule?

- **Futures One Step, evaluation:** none. It can be passed in a single day.
- **Futures One Step, funded:** 40%. The best day may make at most 40% of the payout cycle's net profit.
- **Futures Instant:** 20%, on every payout.
- **CFD Edge 1 Step and Edge 2 Step:** no consistency rule, at either stage.
- **CFD Instant Pro and Instant Go:** Profit Concentration, a single-trade rule: at most 60% of your profit from your best trade.
- **CFD Prime 1 Step and Prime 2 Step, funded:** the Prime Consistency Rule, a band of ±25% on weekly trade count and volume.

The figure for each plan is on its plan page, and the [trading rules page](https://whitepips.com/rules) explains every rule in plain words.

## How does the futures consistency rule work?

It is checked when you request a payout, it is measured on the net profit of the current payout cycle, and it starts again after each payout. Not meeting it is not a breach. The payout simply waits while you keep trading, and the account stays open. You get a "Consistency" warning email when the best day goes over.

A worked example on a $50K [One Step](https://whitepips.com/futures/one_step) funded account, at 40%:

- The cycle has made $2,600. The best day may be at most 40% of that, which is $1,040.
- Suppose the best day made $1,300. That is 50% of $2,600, over the limit.
- $1,300 ÷ 0.40 = $3,250. The payout opens once the cycle's profit reaches $3,250, provided no new day beats $1,300 and the other payout conditions are met.

Those other conditions on the $50K One Step funded account are 3 profitable days of $125 or more, and a balance at least the $500 Minimum Profit Goal above the $2,000 Profit Buffer. On Instant the rule is 20%, which is much tighter: the same $2,600 of profit allows a best day of only $520.

A quick check before you request: divide your best day by the cycle's net profit. Over 0.40 on a funded One Step, or over 0.20 on Instant, and the payout will wait. Divide the best day by the percentage to see the total you need.

## How does it fit with the Instant Payout Milestone?

A $50K futures [Instant](https://whitepips.com/futures/instant_account) account needs $3,000 of profit before every payout (the Payout Milestone), 5 profitable days of $125 or more, and the 20% rule. The conditions interact, and the consistency rule can be the one that decides the date.

- At exactly **$3,000** of profit, the best day can be at most **$600**.
- If the best day made **$900**, the total needed is **$900** ÷ 0.20 = **$4,500**. The milestone is reached at **$3,000**, but the payout waits until **$4,500**.
- If the best day made **$1,200**, the total needed is **$6,000**, twice the milestone.

The lesson is that on Instant one big day early in a cycle pushes the payout further away than the milestone suggests. Steady size keeps the two conditions in step.

## What is Profit Concentration on CFD Instant accounts?

On [Instant Pro](https://whitepips.com/cfds/inst_standard) and Instant Go, which are funded from day one, the share of your profit that came from your single best closed trade may be at most 60%. It is measured from your first closed trade, while the account is in profit, and there is no minimum number of trades. Edge and Prime accounts do not have it.

Going over is recoverable and never a breach. While the share is above 60%, payouts on that account are paused: no payout can be requested from it. Profit from other trades brings the share back down, and once it is back inside the limit, payouts open again by themselves. The figure is shown live on the dashboard.

A worked example: the account is $5,000 in profit and the best trade made $3,200. That is 64%, over the limit. To bring it to 60%, total profit needs to reach $3,200 ÷ 0.60, which is $5,333.33, so another $333.34 from other trades, assuming none of them beats $3,200. Until then, payouts on that account are paused.

## What is the Prime Consistency Rule?

On a funded [Prime](https://whitepips.com/cfds/pro_one_step) account the rule is about how you trade, not where the profit came from. Each 7 days, your trade count and your volume per instrument must stay within ±25% of your averages from the evaluation and your first 30 funded days.

For example, if you averaged 20 trades a week and 8 lots a week on forex, a week must land between 15 and 25 trades, and between 6 and 10 lots on forex.

Breaking it does not end the account. It is reviewed by the risk desk, which writes when a week falls outside the band, and it moves the account to a standard funded account of the same size: no monthly salary and no 100% split. The same downgrade follows if the account misses the Quarterly Profit Target, which asks that payouts plus the account's profit reach 5% of the starting balance every 90 days.

## Are there other rules about where profit comes from?

Two more work on a similar share-of-profit principle and are worth knowing alongside the consistency rules.

- **Scalping on funded CFD accounts.** A trade held under 120 seconds counts as a scalp, and from 10 closed trades, scalps may carry at most 20% of your profit. Going over pauses payouts on that account until longer trades bring the share back down; then they open again by themselves. It is not checked during the evaluation, and there is no limit on how many of your trades are scalps.
- **Microscalping on futures.** At most 50% of your profit may come from trades held under 30 seconds. Until you are back under it, the evaluation cannot pass and a payout cannot be requested; the account stays open.

## How do you trade with a consistency rule?

- **Keep the risk per trade fixed.** A consistency rule is hardest to meet when one position is much larger than the rest. Flat sizing keeps any single day or trade from dominating the total.
- **Check the share before you request.** The [consistency rule calculator](https://whitepips.com/tools/consistency-rule-calculator) takes your best day and your total and gives the total you need.
- **Treat a big day as a raised bar, not a problem.** The profit is still on the account; the rule only asks for more total profit behind it before a payout.
- **Do not pad the total.** On futures, meaningless trades placed only to satisfy a requirement, and abnormal trade counts during negligible price movement, are on the prohibited list and go to the risk desk.

## In short

A consistency rule compares your best day, or your best trade, with your total profit. At WhitePips it is 40% of the cycle's profit per day on a funded futures One Step, 20% on futures Instant, 60% per trade on CFD Instant Pro and Instant Go, a ±25% weekly band on funded Prime, and nothing on Edge or the futures evaluation. Going over never ends the account: the futures payout waits, CFD Instant payouts are paused on that account until it is back inside, and a Prime account becomes a standard funded one. To find the total a best day needs, divide it by the percentage.
